Check a roofing license in three steps
Florida publishes every contractor license. Checking one takes about two minutes. Do it before you sign anything.
Get the license number
Ask the roofer for it in writing. It should also be on the contract and the estimate.
Search it on DBPR
Use the state's license search at myfloridalicense.com. Search by license number, not company name.
Match three things
The status says Current, Active. The name matches the company on your contract. The license type covers roofing.

Straight answers
Where do the license details come from?
From the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation (DBPR), the state agency that issues contractor licenses. Each listing shows the date we checked, and you can confirm the license yourself on myfloridalicense.com.
What's the difference between a CCC and an RC license?
A CCC is a certified roofing license, valid anywhere in Florida. An RC is a registered roofing license, valid only in the local areas where the contractor is registered. Look up which one your roofer holds on the DBPR license search.
How do I tell a paid listing from the rest?
Look for the Sponsored label. Every paid placement carries it, wherever it appears. Payment doesn't change a listing's rating or its license details.
How will ratings work?
Ratings aren't live yet. Before the first rating appears, we'll publish the method: what is rated, who can rate, how a rater is checked and how a roofer can respond.
My company is listed wrong. How do I fix it?
