Ratings aren't live yet, so no listing shows a star rating today. Before the first rating appears, we'll publish the full method on this page. Some rules are already set, and they're listed below.

Rules every rating will follow
- We show only ratings we collect ourselves. We don't copy star ratings from Google or any other website.
- No fake, bought or incentivized ratings, and we don't hide negative ones.
- People connected to a listed company, or to this site, don't rate that company.
- Sponsors can't pay to change a rating. Sponsored spots are labeled and kept apart from ratings.
- A company with no ratings shows "No ratings yet", never a starting score.
- Rating data in our page code (schema) covers only ratings we collected.
The Federal Trade Commission's rule on consumer reviews bans fake reviews, buying positive or negative reviews, undisclosed insider reviews and hiding negative reviews. Some of our rules go further.

What is rated
One overall score, or separate scores for things like communication, cleanup and staying on schedule.
Who can rate
Whether only homeowners who hired the company can rate, and for which kinds of jobs.
How we check a rater
What proof of a real job we ask for, and how we keep that proof private.
How a company responds
How a roofer can reply in public to a rating about its work.
Disputes and removals
When a rating comes down, who decides, and how either side can ask for a review.
